The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works
Environmental Programs Division
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works is proud to serve the residents of Los Angeles County by providing the following important programs and services to improve the quality of the environment and preserve natural resources, reduce the amount of waste produced and prevent pollutants from entering our lakes, river and the ocean.

Curbside Recycling Program
The recycling programs for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County are serviced by private waste haulers as required by County ordinances. For additional information, pick up a copy of the "Recycle Today for a Better Tomorrow" brochure at our information booth.

Countywide Yard Waste Program
Monthly workshops on backyard composting, worm composting, grass recycling and water-wise gardening are given at 15 learning centers throughout the County. For a complete listing of Center locations, operating hours and workshops, please pick up a flyer at our information display.

Storm Drain Program
The storm drain system is designed to prevent flooding by collecting stormwater runoff from urbanized areas for later release to our lakes, rivers and the ocean. Each and every one of us can help to prevent pollution from entering the storm drain system by not placing waste (e.g. leaves, trash, animal droppings, oil and other hazardous wastes) in gutters, catchbasins and waterways that carry this untreated water to the ocean. To report illegal dumping into the storm drain system, please call the County's Illegal Dumping Hotline at 1(800) 303-0003.

Countywide Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program
This program provides convenient sites throughout the county on a rotating basis during the year where residents can bring their hazardous household waste for f recycling or safe disposal. For additional information, pick up a copy of the "Use it up. Clean it up. Round it up." brochure.

1-888-CLEAN-LA Environmental Hotline
Call this number to obtain information on how to participate in these environmental programs or pick up a flyer at the County's information display.

We hope you enjoyed the tour of the 1997 Eco Expo Environmental Home.
