The best thing about energy efficient building is you most
likely already have all the tools necessary for a professional job. It is
the techniques of the trade that must change, using unfamiliar products and
procedures.
In the builder's tool kit, you will need:
- 16-28 oz. hammer (depending on your skill, usually choose
the lighter hammer. Choose a waffle head [prevents nail deflection] or flat
head [non-marring])
- rubber mallet (a plastic hammer is O.K.)
- chalk line
- wrecking bar
- screwdriver
- measuring tape (25 ft. [7.5 m])
- utility knife (with replacement blades, hook style too)
- prybar (cats paw style)
- goggles or glasses
- gloves
