With the sagging economy in North America, tradeshows are not as popular as in years past. Most attendees are going for additional training, or often retraining to break into a new field. Videomaker Expo West 2003 is a victim of the slump, as the exhibitor list was few. Sony Electronics, Canon DV, and Century Optics had their latest consumer level miniDV, Digital8 camcorders and lenses. A few system integrators showed editing packages like apple.com Final Cut Pro Express. The event was low key. Inside every attendee's bag, fortunately, was a free pass to the National Association of Broadcasters convention in April. This show is one of the few to feature video editing appliances, stand alone boxes dedicated to video editing only. Manufactures like MacroSystems US, Applied Magic, and Edirol had their next machines on view. The PC market, dominated by Final Cut Pro or Avid, was not to be found. Links: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
